Edgewood Family & Milestone Photography
Edgewood has a quiet, wooded charm that makes it one of my favorite areas to work in. Since I’m based just over in Bonney Lake, I’m practically in your backyard. At Sailor + Sage, I focus on the real, familiar connections that define your family. I’m Mikaila, and my goal is to help you slow down for an hour to document the season you’re in, without the stress of forced poses or the pressure to be “perfect.”
A Walk through the Trees
If you’ve been looking for an outdoor family photoshoot that feels more like a walk through the trees than a rigid session, we’ll be a great fit. Edgewood offers some beautiful, natural textures that work perfectly for a PNW-inspired gallery. I have three kids of my own, so I know that children aren’t meant to sit still for an hour. I meet them exactly where they are, whether they want to run, explore, or just stay close to you. We focus on play and genuine interaction, ensuring your photos reflect your family’s true heart.
Tiny Details and Quiet Shifts
The first few weeks with a new baby are a blur of tiny details and quiet shifts. In my newborn milestone photography, I offer a gentle, thorough approach that prioritizes your baby’s comfort. I’m drawn to the things that often go unnoticed: the way a newborn settles into your arms or those small features that change before you even realize it. Whether we are in the studio or capturing a quiet new stage of life, I move at your child’s pace to create a gallery that feels as organic as possible.
Preserving Every Chapter
I offer several ways to document your family’s story as it evolves, ensuring no detail is forgotten:
Documenting the quiet beauty and the transition of your pregnancy as you prepare for your new arrival.
I focus on the delicate arrival of your little one, capturing those brand-new features typically within the first two weeks of life.
A high-energy, playful celebration of your baby’s first big milestone.
A series of sessions curated to track the massive development of your baby’s first year.
I am truly grateful that I get to document these life-changing stories for a living. If you value authentic connection over forced smiles, I would love to tell your story.
Common Questions About Edgewood Sessions
When is the best time to schedule maternity photos?
I usually recommend booking your maternity session between 28 and 34 weeks. This is typically the “sweet spot” where your bump is prominent, but you are still feeling comfortable enough to move around and enjoy the experience.
What happens if it rains on the day of our outdoor shoot?
Living in the PNW, I am always keeping an eye on the clouds. If the weather doesn’t look like it will cooperate for our Edgewood session, I am happy to be flexible. We can either embrace a moody, overcast look or find a nearby date that offers clearer skies.
Are your newborn sessions posed or lifestyle?
I offer a blend of both. I love capturing the natural, lifestyle-heavy moments of you holding and bonding with your baby, but I also offer posed studio portraits that highlight your newborn’s tiny features. We can discuss which style fits your vision best during our consultation.
