Orting Family & Milestone Photography

Orting has a grounded, peaceful atmosphere that always draws me in, especially with the shadow of Mount Rainier hanging over the valley. Living right up the hill in Bonney Lake, I’ve spent countless evenings here watching the light hit the fields. My goal for your session is to document the way your family actually lives and breathes. I want to move away from the “look at the camera and smile” pressure and instead capture the real, unpolished connection that exists between you.

Natural Rather than Staged

If you are looking for a sibling photoshoot that feels natural rather than staged, Orting’s open landscapes are the perfect playground. I have three kids of my own, so I know that the best photos of brothers and sisters happen when they are allowed to interact, explore, and just be kids. I don’t force them into stiff poses or demand “cheese.” Instead, we focus on the real energy between them, ensuring the gallery reflects their actual personalities and the bond they share.

Moving at Your Baby’s Pace

When searching for milestone photography near you, you want a way to document the rapid changes of your baby’s first year without the stress of a traditional, rigid session. I focus on the tiny details and the big personality shifts that happen between birth and that first birthday. Whether it’s a sitter session or a celebratory first-year portrait, I move at your baby’s pace. I’m watching for those genuine expressions and the quiet moments of curiosity that make your little one who they are.

Preserving the Chapters That Matter

I offer several ways to document your family’s evolving story, tailored to the specific stage you are in:

A focus on the quiet anticipation and the incredible transition as you prepare to welcome your baby.

Documenting the delicate, brand-new details of your little one within their first two weeks.

A full-service, joyful mess where I provide the custom styling, the cake, and the cleanup bath.

A curated series of sessions designed to track your baby’s personality from their earliest days through their first birthday.

I am truly grateful to spend my days telling these stories. If you value real connection over a “perfect” pose, I would love to work with you.

Common Questions About Orting Sessions

What happens if the weather is unpredictable on our session day?

Living in the PNW means sessions sometimes come with cloudy skies, which actually create soft, even light that photographs beautifully. If the weather shifts into heavy rain, I am always happy to reschedule for a day that feels more comfortable for your family.

The best thing you can do is keep it low-pressure. Tell them we are going to explore a new spot and have some fun. I find that when expectations are relaxed, the kids are much more likely to show their true selves, leading to the genuine, unscripted moments we’re looking for.

While every baby is different, I love the “sitter” stage—usually around 6 to 8 months—when they can sit up confidently but aren’t quite running away yet. Of course, the first birthday celebration is also a huge favorite for capturing that big transition into toddlerhood.
